Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Exam modified for Dec 2008
Many people call it the 'atestat,' or 'Cambridge certificate.' In order to take the examination, you will need to study at an advanced level for two terms with us. This will help you to improve the quality of your English, but also prepare you for an examination that is different from most others that you will have met.
The exam is held three times a year: Mid-March, Mid-June and Mid-December on two different days. On one day you are tested on Speaking and Listening. On the other Reading, Writing and English in Use.
Cambridge set the examination and mark it and they charge about 500RON to enter the exam, whether you pass or not. (Note: The British Council actually organise the exam for Cambridge.) You have to pay three months before and then you enrol too. If you pass, you receive your certificate three months after the exam, although you can see your result online before that! The certificate is valid for the rest of your life (unlike TEFOL) and is recognised world-wide. (Even institutions that request TEFOL will accept Cambridge as an equivalent if you ask them)
There is a lot of work for you to do. You need to attend all lessons as we teach different aspect of the exam and it is very important to complete all homeworks as these will cover different examination requirements (e.g there are 9 different types of essay to practise). This means four hours a week in class and 6 hours at home...minimum. If you don't do it, you won't pass!
You want to do this? Then, enrol at Horea, nr.2 at least 3 weeks before our term starts. This course is highly sought by students and places fill up fast. We limit class size to give you our very best attention!
